In this section you will find pictures and descriptions of cats now ready for adoption! All have had necessary vaccinations and are spayed or neutered.

Our cats are located at Pet Supplies Plus in Niles and at our shelter (please make an appointment to see cats at the shelter by calling 330-372-6134). A volunteer is available at Pet Supplies Plus weeknights from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and on Sundays from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. to show the cats and answer any questions you might have about the adoption process.

All of our cats and kittens are adopted with the understanding that they will remain indoor-only animals. (Why? Read this.) Prospective adopters will need to fill out an adoption application and contract, and we will conduct either a home check or a telephone interview with you before the adoption is completed. If you wish, you may leave a 50% deposit (fully refundable or applicable toward adoption fees) to put a hold on a cat you are interested in. Adoption fees are as follows:
* Kittens up to 6 months old: $100
* Cats over 6 months old: $85
* Cats with special needs and cats who have been at the shelter for more than one year: Monetary donation of your choice
This adoption fee partially covers medical treatment, including spaying/neutering, all necessary vaccinations, flea treatment, deworming, and testing for FELV and FIV.

A signed adoption contract will be required at the completion of the adoption. Please wait to sign the adoption contract until your application is approved and in the presence of a C.A.P.T. staff member.

Please note: It is the policy of Cats Are People, Too! not to adopt a cat under 8 months of age into a household where very young children are present, as either the cat, the child, or both may be hurt due to rough play. It is also our policy not to handle third-party adoptions; that is, you cannot adopt a cat or kitten for someone else.

If you are interested in adopting any of these kitties, please call 330-372-6134. Even if the cat you are interested in has been adopted, there are many, many more waiting for good homes! We can surely find a purrfect match for your family!

If you wish to surrender a cat to the shelter, please contact our office (330-372-6134) first to make sure space is available and/or to be put on our waiting list. Do NOT send an e-mail to the webmaster as she is unable to answer any questions about available space at the shelter. If space is available or if you wish to be put on our waiting list, please download and fill out the intake form for each cat you wish to surrender. This will help us greatly in finding a suitable home for your pet. Please note that you will need to bring proof of FIV testing with each cat you wish to surrender. Also note that it is the policy of Cats Are People, Too! not to take in feral cats, as they are very difficult to place, usually do not make good pets, and take up space that could be better used for adoptable cats and kittens. We believe that feral cats are best dealt with using the humane trap-neuter-release methods (TNR). If you need help with a feral cat population (e.g., low-cost spay neuter services, information on care, etc.), please feel free to call us or to visit Alley Cat Allies at their website. (Feral cats are not the same as stray cats—ferals are wild cats that have often been born in the wild and have never known a home life; stray cats are formerly homed pets that have been lost or abandoned. Cats Are People, Too! will continue to accept adoptable, stray cats on a space-available basis.)
